Ebay Chargeback Reddit

A buyer may not seek resolution for the same transaction under more than one buyer protection program. eBay may close a buyer's eBay Money Back Guarantee case if the buyer files a chargeback or buyer protection claim for the same transaction with their payment provider (such as a credit card issuer or payment service provider), regardless of whether the chargeback or buyer protection claim is for the full or partial amount of the transaction.

I posted an item on this board a few days ago titled "disturbing trend". I believe eBay bit off a bit more than they were prepared to handle when the moved from PayPal as their financial process to Adyen operating in the background. The scammers have quickly become aware of the fact that they do not need to go through eBay with an INR or SNAD and have to deal with a sellers potential response to the case. It is far easier for them to just do a chargeback. The CC company or bank never touches base with the seller, both Adyen and eBay refuse go get involved other than fully refunding the buyer and keeping their fees. The buyer has the item and their money back and the seller has little recourse.

If nothing is done you can expect to see an increase in the chargebacks as more and more scammers learn how easy it is to do. There is already information available on the internet on how simple it is to pull this off.

I have no idea how to even get a chargeback from my bank. Fortunately, I've never had my card stolen or been hacked. I will only use Paypal or my husband's credit card online because I don't have a credit card, only a debit card. I really should get a credit card for the security of it...

I would have to say to you that it seems foolish to give up something that has been profitable and working so well for you because of a few chargebacks, which surely is just a small percentage of your sales. Try top hang in there!

On occasion but at least PayPal did some screening before they automatically refunded the buyer. You could also contact PayPal and appeal your case. You cannot contact the CC company or the bank since that information is not available to you and eBay will not provide it. Under MP a chargeback is virtually an automatic refund to the buyer, no communication, no appeal, no recourse.

Update: I felt hopeless and almost forgot about the case until I remember that the payment used my bank account as a funding source because I had no money in my Paypal account at that time. Therefore, I went ahead and filed a chargeback with my bank, I just needed to fill in a form to explain my situation. After just a couple of days, I received the refund directly my bank account and the payment in my Paypal account was also corrected. Unfortunately, my Paypal account was permanently limited.

Two.days later received 2nd order and it was a sealed envelope completely empty!!!Contacted ebay. They told me to wait to.see if the seller resolves it. If not call back after 3 business days and they will refund the money. This scares me cause im worried i will lose my money

I have never sold on ebay but have been thinking about it. However, thanks to your post I doubt I ever will. Think I will just rely on yard sales or on a local resale site. This was very good information and I appreciate you taking the time to explain all this.

Unfortunately, fraudsters like gift cards too. There are a variety of schemes they can employ to take advantage of the fact that gift cards have few of the security features that modern credit cards do. Many of these schemes will result in chargebacks, with the merchant left holding the bag. But there are ways for merchants to protect themselves and reduce their revenue losses.

Fraudsters simply use stolen credit card numbers to
